So, here's the last of the six commission drawings! This guy is another of WhiteMantis' ( http://www.furaffinity.net/user/whitemantis/ ) beautiful anthro mantis characters, Eien, whom she asked me to draw at a forest shrine. (I put in lots of little guys rather than one big one) The plants are these ( http://marg09.files.wordpress.com/2010/10/very-old-camphor-tree-kyoto.jpg ) and this ( http://www.cycadconnections.com.au/images/plants/large/Cycas%20revoluta-2.jpg ) ... or as close as I could get to those plants; turns out it's kinda hard to draw cycads without making their leaves look more like feathers than fronds. But anyhow, this character was a pleasure to draw; I understand he was originally designed by Fydbac ( http://www.furaffinity.net/user/fydbac ), another person whose character designs are always just the best. :D

This is WhiteMantis' ( http://www.furaffinity.net/user/whitemantis/ ) lovely orchid mantis lady, Nae. I just love her character design; I hope I did it justice. She's sitting in a persimmon tree, next to a patch of toad lilies. (If you had a hard shell, there would be a lot more positions that would be comfortable to sit or lie in, don't you think?)

These are maelweilh's characters Mordred and Evert, whom she asked me to draw in a medieval setting, which was lots of fun.

Mercifully it's a fantasy medieval universe, in which her characters live, so I did not have to worry too much about historical accuracy. (Nonetheless, the chess board is this board: ( http://www.extravaganzi.com/17th-ce.....d-at-sothebys/ ), the chess game just finishing is this game: ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wPm9k6ul9EI ), the chess pieces are these pieces (even though there are extra pieces in that set and it's not meant for conventional chess): ( http://courierchess.com/thepainting.htm ), and the inspiration for my just cramming the characters in around a tiny precarious little table with no space for the pieces already taken is this stained glass window: ( http://www.pbase.com/bmcmorrow/image/101046191 ) The space is not based on any specific real world castle; the room's probably a bit too tall and narrow to be a keep. I dunno. Maybe it's the castle's dedicated Unresolved Sexual Tension room.)

I also used no assistance from Illustrator or Rhino or any other program to make my perspective 100 percent correct by the numbers in this instance, seeing as how medieval artists weren't so constrained by the letter of the law of perspective (because no one had yet written that law. but still.); this time I just eyeballed the room and table and relative sizes of everything.

These are Marlin's characters Caden and Bajar, who are part of the same universe/story as her characters Lorn and Noah, whom I've drawn before ( here ) She asked me to draw them together in a frozen landscape; I thought I'd make it a frozen lake with a boat. Lots of fun drawing wings and feather cloaks and characters with interesting scars; I really like Bajar's character design. :)

And you can read more about and see more of all four characters over here.

This is Norree's very handsome character Sephiril ( http://norree.deviantart.com/art/Sephril-359002770 ), whom she asked me to draw in a forest. :)

I had so much fun drawing this. :) These are May's character Yvannale and Ottery's character Kojituu, in their human/gijinka forms. There are lots of adorable pictures of them here and my picture owes a lot in particular to this lovely sketch of them here. And Koji is a librarian for the purposes of this picture, because I've seen the Music Man too many times and thought it would be cute.

The theme is 'Heroes and Villains'! Which is a fun theme.

And I did an illustration this issue for [profile] torino_koji's story De novo, which I really enjoyed and very much recommend you read.

Hey, who else was traumatized by the last episode of Game of Thrones? Or the corresponding scene in the books, I guess. I haven't yet read the books. (Though I'd probably have been better off reading GRRMs pile of doorstops than Robert Jordan's pile of doorstops as a kid--I believe they kicked off around the same time?)

Safe for Work, but major spoilers if you haven't seen the show up to now or read the books )

Okay, just one more Pitch/Sandman drawing.

Safe for Work )

I'm not actually sure what a person would use a giant hanging lantern like this for. Aside from using it as a place to sit in and sulk, I mean. Use it to hang a huge bonfire in mid-air? Maybe, I guess. I didn't get around to designing the top, but as long as there's a place up there for the smoke to escape, why not.

And it's all fun and games until out of the blue you draw Labyrinth p.... fanart for no good reason, and everyone has to unwatch you out of sheer embarrassment. (I kid. I think.)

Er. Sarah and Jareth from the goofy old 80s movie, f.... hanging out on a pile of that eyeball moss and Sarah's fluffy dress. Don't ask why. I don't know why.

Oh, and assume everyone's of age.

Probably Not Safe for Work )

Also! There's a new Shousetsu Bang Bang yuri special issue out now! Lots of great stories! I also assisted in illustrating [profile] beeblebabe's fabulous octopus mermaid/pirate captain story Poor Unfortunate Soul, which you should read if you haven't already.

So yeah, I drew more Rise of the Guardians...stuff, of a Pitch/Sandy variety. My hand slipped. Again. Mea culpa.

And since I got just really carried away with adding a whole sand pet shop worth of little sand creatures (but don't worry--those poor little nightmare piranhas have nothing to fear from all those vicious dream goldfish) so that if this picture was ever self explanatory it sure isn't now:

I figure that if anyone who gave Sandy a kiss would always get knocked out like they'd been chloroformed, that would just be sad. But if you were working with, like, a one in ten chance, or something (depending on whether Sandy had washed his face since the last city he put to sleep, I suppose), that would be hilarious.

And maybe deserving of a 'Things I will not do if I am ever the evil overlord' entry, down at the very bottom of the list: 'I will not be a wiseass and give my nemesis a parting smooch before twirling my mustaches and riding off into the sunset. Especially if my nemesis is made entirely out of sleeping powder'.

So I drew fanart of one more couple from Sengoku Collection. (There’s seriously no fanart for this show; I think it fell somewhere into the gap between respectable slice of life shows and 100 percent shameless fanservice shows, or something. So if you want something done…) Ieyasu and Rosary are not as obvious/essentially canon a couple from that show as some, but I still like them together. I was pleased when Rosary (blue hair) turned up again in Ieyasu’s second episode, and when she also got a happy ending to her story. I figure that after Rosary’s Broadway debut is a rousing success, she and Ieyasu can get together to celebrate.

I’m also not sure if this counts as aging Ieyasu up or redesigning her to look as old as she rationally has to be, to have lived however many years as an alternate universe warring states era general before being transported to this world. One way or another, anyhow, everyone here’s of age.

HIGHLY UNSAFE FOR WORK )

I seem to have finally watched Rise of the Guardians and felt compelled to draw Sandy/Pitch porn. I have no idea how this happened and I refuse to take responsibility for it. (How this happened: Sandy is the cutest little whip wielding tentacle monster ever, and Pitch spent half the movie on his back (more or less). Good old cringing and slightly pitiful villains. I’m very fond of them. Also, that old compulsion to ship the good guy with the bad guy every time. (I watch magical girl shows for a reason. That reason being, about 75 percent of the time, the good magical girl ends up befriending the bad magical girl. The other 25 percent of the time, of course, you get something like Heartcatch Pretty Cure and I never get over it.))

Very Not Work Safe )

P.S. It sure does make things easier when every character you’re drawing can fly or effectively fly.

HI. Just dropping by with a thing I drew. Fully clothed but not worksafe.

(I should probably note here also that like so many people I am much more often on Tumblr (quaedam.tumblr.com) these days than LJ or DW.)

These ladies are Nobunaga and Mitsuhide from the recent anime Sengoku Collection. I love this couple. (I believe it’s an iron law of yuri that you’ll never go wrong shipping pink/purple.) And I appreciate any anime which takes historical figures who historically killed one another, turns them into ladies and makes them an item. (Well, as good as. Even if this isn’t this, I’ll call it close enough.)

(Also, speaking as a Salieri/Mozart shipper from way back, like I said before, I really enjoyed the references to ‘Amadeus’ in Nobunaga and Mitsuhide’s big dramatic backstory episode. Fun.)

Fully clothed but still Not Safe for Work )

So, the latest SSBB issue is out! An issue entitled "Weasels Ripped My Flesh" (http://bb-shousetsu.livejournal.com/76860.html) (based on old men's magazines from the 50s :D) ...and the illustration I did this time is for an awesome story entitled "Deadly Scorpions ate my Shirt" -- which is over here: http://s2b2.livejournal.com/218314.html

(I freaked out a bit over drawing that little bit of a Stearman biplane. I'd considered even trying to model the thing in AutoCAD alongside some stick figures first, but in the end, I just wound up eyeballing it.)

RYOMOU, I AM HOME

AND I AM LOOKING SO HANDSOME AND ALSO MOST OF MY SCHOOL UNIFORM IS TORN OFF? (Must be Tuesday.)

OOH MISTER SONSAKU OOH

LET’S DO IT

YES

AND I WILL LEAVE MY DRAGON ON (*GAZE*)

Yeah… so I drew some Ryomou/Hakufu. (We all have our ships. I love Kanu/Ryuubi too, of course.) It figures that the show that would finally move me to do some Work Safe fanart would be goddamn Ikkitousen.

After all, this is a show in which nearly everyone has in canon gotten to *at least* second base with nearly everyone else. So a kiss in fanart winds up looking much more unambiguously shippy than anything else I could do.

Also, shows where you can ignore physics and not worry about things like, what pieces of actually existing physically possible furniture must these people be sitting on in order to make that pose work? AWESOME.

Worksafe! (I mean, if your work has no problem with ladies kissing.) )

So, there’s this old 1940s noir (?) film called “Gilda”. You may remember I mentioned it before! And I made some porn of it. (Or almost-porn. If it weren’t for the limited nudity thar I’d probably have submitted this to DA and claimed that Johnny just finished eating a really drippy popsicle.)

If you haven’t seen it, the movie is mostly about Rita Hayworth being sexy. And about the old film code thwarting me, as far as how I wanted the movie to end. I mostly hate love triangle plots (Goddammit, Hunger Games, I like you, but I stopped caring which of those dudes Katniss was gonna end up with about halfway through the first book), except when they seem to be leading to a threesome, in which case I *love* love triangle plots.

So, anyhow. My personal canon for the movie ‘Gilda’ is either that the movie tells the story that Gilda, Johnny, and Ballin concocted for the cops before running away together, or that Gilda and Ballin were secretly trolling Johnny the whole time. (He’d have richly deserved it.)

NSFW because of moderate nudity and also people pretttty clearly either having sex or having just had sex )

I picked a confusing time for this, I suppose. :D

So, carrying on with the rule34 for minor fandoms of mine: have some fanart for Avenger, that Bee Train dangerous ladies anime no one seemed to like but me. (I suppose I do understand why Avenger’s not so popular. The ending wasn’t as bizarre as I’d expected based on some reviews I read, but it still left a lot unexplained. Though that didn’t really bother me. And I’m a sucker for ancient-Rome-in-space type worldbuilding.)

So, some Layla/(grown up! here she’s definitely grown up!)Nei porn, somewhere out in the caves of the Martian wilderness. (Although Nei’s not dressed for it.) And yes, okay, I figure, as a thing to ship, this is really no creepier than, say, Sesshomaru/older Rin and certainly no more than Dominura/older Limone. (For those folks who are familiar with Inuyasha and/or Simoun.)

Anyhow, as this show ended, it seemed entirely plausible that Nei and Layla could meet up again in the future, once Nei’d grown up and Layla’d wandered in the wilderness of Mars alone for as long as she wanted to.

This is fanart for the old 90’s anime OVA (and, I understand, series of games—though I’m not familiar with them) Galaxy Fraulein Yuna. Enormous hair, giant robots, schoolgirls saving the world with their army of space girlfriends, that sort of thing. The first two episode OVA was goofy fun. The second was really pretty good, even if it did break my heart, since GF Yuna is one of those series that left me hanging on a “Wrath of Khan” without ever giving me a “Search for Spock” to make everything okay again. As far as my favorite character and favorite couple go.

So speaking of my favorite couple from the show, I just had to draw some Yuna/Ayako. Ayako’s the little tragic android from the second three episode OVA of Galaxy Fraulein Yuna and of course Yuna’s the titular magical girl…or I guess mecha girl who befriends her ferociously until she turns over to the good side. (my favorite trope of all time)

I also had to throw in Polylina, Yuna’s lady version of Tuxedo Mask (yes, Yuna has a lady version of Tuxedo Mask).

And just to explain exactly what I’ve drawn here—Ayako is an android, after all, and she detaches different parts of herself throughout the show, and occasionally needs to be repaired. Also she can walk through walls, hence the semi-transparency, and the little glowing sphere there is equivalent to her hard drive. And you’ve just got to pass the time while waiting for your arms to be reattached somehow (and if you temporarily have no arms, that rules out at least one way of passing the time without a buddy, so.).

ABSOLUTELY NOT safe for work )
