Okay, anyone else watching Penguindrum?

Because I think the inside of my skull is still sparkling a little from the last five minutes of the first episode. :)

It's got adorable Hoshino Lily character designs, the prettiest penguin-themed dominatrix outfit you ever saw, subway signs, the sweetest little house in the brightest colors (I can't overstate how fucking pretty this show is to look at), and penguins who'll chop your vegetables, knit with you, and fetch you your umbrella. And a shiny transformation sequence I could watch all day--which is a good thing if they bring it back in every episode like the prelude to the duels from Utena. (Hey, they might. If only as an homage. And I wouldn't mind.)

Also something about fate, and...without spoiling anything, other stuff you might naturally expect of an anime by Ikuhara if you've seen Utena. You know.

The first non-nonfiction I've read in the longest damn time

So I haven't really read any YA lit of any sort since the 7th Harry Potter book. (I do definitely mean to try the Hunger Games some time.)

But I picked up the Percy Jackson series for shits and giggles this week, and I have to say, I enjoyed it. ( Cut for length, discussion of the Percy Jackson series in particular and my insane love of Greek myth generally )
